Cubic Corporation has unveiled a new weapon simulator for US Army special forces, which simulates a Gatling-style gun firing up to 3,000 rounds a minute.
The design of the M134D virtual trainer is based on the M134D minigun, a six-barrel electric-powered machine gun that fires 7.62mm rifle rounds at up to 50 rounds a second.

Cubic has developed the ballistics of an actual M134D in a virtual training environment as well as weapon sounds and other characteristics to eliminate the usage of live rounds in the training exercises.
The US Department of Energy facilities is scheduled to receive two simulators for facility protection and counterterrorism training.
As part of a mobile Cubic training system being used to train US Army special forces units, the company will deliver a third M134D virtual trainer to Fort Campbell, a US Army installation in Kentucky.
