India has successfully test fired its short-range Astra air-to-air missile from a defence base in Orissa.
Defence sources said the test launch was the second in two days for the tactical missile, according to the Times of India.

The test was conducted from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur in the district of Balasore, about 230km from state capital Bhubaneswar.
ITR Chandipur director SP Dash said that the missile was tested at night and the test results were being analysed.
Astra is a single stage, solid-fuelled beyond visual range air-to-air missile capable of engaging and destroying highly manoeuvrable aerial targets at a supersonic speed of up to Mach 1.4.
The 3.8m-long missile can carry a warhead containing explosives weighing 15kg and can be integtrated on the Indian military’s Sukhoi-30 MKI, MiG-29, Mirage-2000, Jaguar and the Tejas light combat aircraft.
