The US’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 10.6% drop in IT hiring activity in July 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 10.59% in July 2022 when compared with June 2022.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 19.33% share in July 2022, recording an increase of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.74% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s aerospace, defence & security industry in July 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 44.14% in July 2022, registering a 32.38% decline over the previous month.

2) Computer and Information Research Scientists claimed a 24.43% share, a decrease of 26.2% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 19.21%, registering a 42.44% decline from June 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 5.86%, down 39.48% over the previous month.

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 35.13% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s aerospace, defence & security industry during July 2022 over June 2022.

Northrop Grumman posted 569 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a drop of 17.42% over the previous month, followed by Raytheon Technologies with 514 jobs and a 7.39% drop. General Dynamics with 474 IT jobs and The Boeing with 474 jobs, recorded a 70.23% decline and a 22.8% decrease, respectively, while L3Harris Technologies recorded an increase of 27.03% with 423 job postings during July 2022.

Mid Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Mid Level jobs held a share of 48.97%, down by 32.51% from June 2022. Junior Level positions with a 34.38% share, registered a decline of 35.65% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.23% share, down 31.61% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.42%, recording a month-on-month decline of 54.55%.
