General Dynamics has awarded a contract to Lockheed to provide communications hardware and equipment for the transmission subsystem as part of warfighter information network-tactical (WIN-T) increment 2.
Under the contract, Lockheed will supply tactical communications equipment to be integrated on various combat vehicle platforms.
WIN-T increment 2 includes transmission subsystem radios, modems, antennas and mast systems to transfer data over a highly dispersed, non-contiguous area.
WIN-T provides a high-capacity network to link warfighters across the battlefield and also equips the vehicles with on-the-move broadband communications, enabling control and command of the battlespace.
The $71m contract is the first part of a multiple year contract valued at $400m.
Lockheed Martin has teamed with General Dynamics (Prime), BAE Systems, Harris Corporation and L-3 Communications on the WIN-T programme.
