The global aerospace, defence & security industry noticed a 2.3% rise in IT hiring activity in June 2022 over the previous month, led by General Dynamics 24.54% share, according to GlobalData’s Jobs Analytics database.
The aerospace, defence & security industry’s overall hiring activity declined 0.6% when compared with May 2022.
Noticeably, IT jobs accounted for a 17.17% share of the global aerospace, defence & security industry’s hiring activity in June 2022, down 0.07% over the last three-month average share.
According to GlobalData, IT job opportunities available at the end of June 2022 were 8.62% lower when compared with the previous month.
The decrease was a result of 18.93% higher job postings as compared to job closures during the month.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers with a share of 44.54% emerged as the top IT occupation in the aerospace, defence & security hiring activity in June 2022, a 15.51% decline over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in second with a share of 23.25% in June 2022, up 28.75% over the previous month.
The other prominent IT roles include Computer and Information Research Scientists with a 19.66% share in June 2022, a decline of 22.31% over the previous month, and Computer and Information Analysts with a 6.49% share in June 2022 and a drop of 0.27% over May 2022.
Top five aerospace, defence & security companies by recruitment activity in June 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 3.34% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of global aerospace, defence & security industry during June 2022 over May 2022.
General Dynamics posted 1,413 IT jobs in June 2022 and registered a rise of 5133.33% over the previous month, followed by Northrop Grumman with 642 jobs and a 12.24% growth. The Boeing with 640 IT jobs and Raytheon Technologies with 594 jobs, recorded a 26.94% decline and a 57.66% drop, respectively, while Lockheed Martin recorded a 46.82% drop with 334 job postings during June 2022.
Regional composition of IT hiring in aerospace, defence & security industry
North America emerged as the leading region in the global aerospace, defence & security IT hiring activity in June 2022 with an 83.26% share, which marked a 2% drop over the previous month.
Europe stood next with 9.55%, registering a 33.81% month-on-month decline. Asia-Pacific was the third leading region with a 6.56% share and a 26.89% drop over May 2022.
In the fourth place was Middle East & Africa with a share of 0.45% and a month-on-month drop of 23.53%. South & Central America stood at the bottom of the table with a share of 0.17%, registering a 37.5% decrease over the previous month.
