May 2022 has seen a decrease of 0.36% in the overall hiring activity when compared with April 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 14.25% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 0.74% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 39.68% in May 2022, a 10.22% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Research Scientists came in next, claiming a share of 38.75% in May 2022, marking a 13.49% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 12.73% in May 2022, an 8.05% drop from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 12.64% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry during May 2022 over previous month.
The Boeing posted 570 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 17.51% over the previous month, followed by Lockheed Martin with 471 jobs and a 12.45% drop. Northrop Grumman with 411 IT jobs and Leidos Holdings with 410 jobs, recorded a 0.48% drop and a 23.79% drop, respectively, while Raytheon Technologies recorded a 6.88% increase with 233 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s aerospace, defence & security industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s aerospace, defence & security industry IT hiring activity with a 98.35% share in May 2022, a 10.87% decrease over April 2022. Canada featured next with a 1.34% share, down 39.13% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.32% share, a flat growth compared with April 2022.
Mid Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Mid Level jobs held a share of 47.03%, down by 5.92% from April 2022. Junior Level positions with a 39.77% share, registered a decline of 15.02% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 12.79% share, down 15.72% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.41%, recording a month-on-month decline of 27.78%.
