BAE Systems has successfully completed system acceptance testing (SAT) for the Australian Army’s advanced air defence simulator (AADS) at the 16th Air Defence Regiment AADS training facility.
Under the project, obsolete simulator dome projectors, computers and software were replaced with the latest equipment and programmes to produce higher-fidelity visuals and extended the facility’s life.
16th Air Defence Regiment commanding officer Lieutenant Colonel John McLean said the new display system would provide a more effective simulated controlled tactical environment for training of ground-based air defenders.
The training facility provides training capability in the use of ground to air missile systems.
The $5m critical equipment Refresh project was awarded to BAE in December 2009.
