Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry registered a 3.2% drop in IT hiring activity in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 1.44% in December 2021 when compared with November 2021.

Out of the aerospace, defence & security industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 18.88% share in December 2021, recording a decrease of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.

 

Top five job classifications in Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 98.96% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry in December 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 75% in December 2021, registering a 2.86% growth over the previous month.

2) Computer Support Specialists claimed a 9.38% share, a decrease of 25% over the previous month.

3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 5.21%, registering a 79.17% decline from November 2021.

4) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations captured a share of 5.21%, down 50% over the previous month.

 

Top five aerospace, defence & security companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 13.04% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s aerospace, defence & security industry during December 2021 over November 2021.

L3Harris Technologies posted 18 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by Teledyne Technologies with 18 jobs and an 18.18% drop. CAE with 17 IT jobs and The Boeing with 15 jobs, recorded a 46.88% decline and an 114.29% flat growth, respectively, while Thales recorded a decline of 61.29% with 12 job postings during December 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.04%, down by 30% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 37.5% share, registered an increase of 5.88% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 10.42% share, down 33.33% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 1.04%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
