The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) has received eight armoured personnel carriers (APCs) from France at UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura, Lebanon.
The delivery also includes related spare parts to allow regular maintenance, and the APCs have been reported to be in good working condition.
The APCs were earlier deployed with French troops in UNIFIL and were returned to French Army control, which were directly released to LAF.
The delivery aims to enhance the operational capabilities of the Lebanese Army and is also in line with the 2006 UN Security Council resolution to assist the LAF through equipment and expertise.
France has been a major contributor to the UNIFIL peacekeeping force in south Lebanon since the early years of its deployment.
