AAR has been awarded two contracts, a five-year contract to provide lightweight, multipurpose shelters (LMS) and a three-year contract to provide 20ft ISO shelters for the US Army.
The first $14m contract for LMS will be used to house and operate command and control equipment for situational awareness and tactical support in various theatres of operation.
The second $10m contract for ISO shelters will be used for mobile petroleum quality analysis systems (PQAS) to test and analyse fuels in support of in-theatre operations.
The durable LMS shelters will be designed for mounting on high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicles (HMMWVs or Humvees) for applications ranging from communications to controlling unmanned aircraft.
The company will use advanced techniques featuring friction stir welding and integrated electromagnetic shielding to manufacture the new LMS shelters to house and isolate sophisticated battlefield systems.
Work will be carried out at the company’s mobility systems manufacturing and integration facility in Michigan, US.
