Turkish bus and military vehicle manufacturer Otokar has entered a partnership with Milrem Robotics to develop uncrewed and robotic military vehicles.
The collaboration will leverage the expertise and resources of the two companies to work on their existing fleets of vehicles and deliver new systems.

As agreed, work will include the development of intelligent functions, encryption, safety features, as well as hybridisation of the vehicles.
The two companies signed the collaboration agreement during the Defence and Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London.
Milrem Robotics CEO Kuldar Väärsi said: “We anticipate that the future battlefield will consist of a mix of unmanned and manned assets which are seamlessly connected into a well-functioning integrated system.
“Combining the knowhow and expertise of Milrem Robotics, the leading technology provider and systems house for not only autonomous and robotic systems, but also for optionally manned ground systems and Otokar, a strong and innovative land systems provider, will allow us to deliver our customers new capabilities in the land systems segment.”

The collaboration comes at a time when the defence industry is increasingly focusing on the development of uncrewed systems to meet future battlefield requirements.
Earlier this month, Milrem Robotics teamed up with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace to design and build a new robotic combat vehicle (RCV).
Recently, the British Army unveiled plans to make greater use of robotics and autonomous systems (RAS).
