Predictive analytics company Armaments Research Company (ARC) has secured a contract from the US Department of Defense (DoD) and General Services Administration (GSA) to advance ‘AI-Based Weapon Sensing’ technology.
Valued at $60m, the new five-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract has been awarded under Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Phase III contract.
It is a continuation of the company’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI)-based weapon-sensing technology development undertaken for the DoD and GSA.
The contract is also part of the military’s ‘Joint All-Domain Command and Control’ (JADC2) project portfolio.
ARC’s high-technology systems provide national defence, law enforcement, and prime contractors with intelligent mobile applications, embedded Internet-of-Things (IoT) sensors, as well as Cloud-based analytics platforms.
Together, these systems enable commanders to make mission-critical decisions and reduce timelines of tactical response by nearly 60%.

ARC CEO Michael Canty said: “The IDIQ contract represents a pivotal accomplishment that allows us to advance our core tech systems to ‘Initial Operational Capability’ (IOC) for military use.
“We’ll be leveraging findings gained from this effort towards formalising essential scalable applications that harness critical ground truth data to save lives.”
The latest contract follows recent developments underway at ARC.
These developments include an additional $8m in approved research and development funding from US Government entities and collaborations with Columbia University, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the National Police Foundation, and other contractors.
