Cubic Global Tracking Solutions (CGTS) has received a contract from the US Army to provide support for the expansion of its Next Generation Wireless Communications (NGWC) solutions for yard management applications across three US bases in Kuwait.
The NGWC solutions aim to provide secure, continuous visibility of US military assets in use, transit or storage anywhere in the world with continuous monitoring to provide the logisticians with real-time supply chain visibility.
The system features electronic sensors and secure wireless networks to track location of assets in the supply chain and transmits to the device management centre (DMC), which disseminates information directly to logisticians through secure XML data feeds, e-mail, and sms.
The solutions employ Cubic’s wireless mesh network technology, which is currently used at the army’s Camp Arifjan Wash Rack in Kuwait to track military vehicles.
The small battery-powered mesh asset tag devices, along with GPS receivers, are attached to vehicles to form a wireless mesh network by automatically connecting wirelessly with one another.
The vehicle can be precisely located and determined by the mesh tag serial number that is present in the company’s Device Management Centre (DMC).

By GlobalDataThe Army Logistics Innovation Agency (LIA) along with Army Materiel Command (AMC) conducted a proof of principle (PoP) to demonstrate the efficiencies of the NGWC solution in a yard management application earlier this year at Camp Arifjan’s Wash Rack.
During the PoP, the NGWC successfully tracked 200 vehicles, demonstrating the benefits of self-reporting assets providing the status of their location at any given time.
Cubic Global Tracking Solutions president Mary Wagner said: "We give our war-fighters in theatre near-real-time asset visibility and enhanced logistics situational awareness."
Cubic is a subcontractor to ARINC Engineering Services for the US Army NGWC programme.
