The US Army has placed an order of 99 Mack Defense M917A3 non-armoured heavy dump trucks (HDT) designed to meet military transportation requirements.
The order was placed as part of a previously announced firm-fixed-price $296.4m contract between the US Department of Defense and Mack Defense.
The contract agreement was signed following two years of testing on 12 vehicles by the US Army at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland.
Mack Defense president David Hartzell said: “This order signifies the successful testing of non-armoured and armoured vehicles that we conducted in 2018 and 2019.
“We are proud that Mack Defense was chosen to fulfil the needs of the US Army and support our armed forces.”
Based on the civilian Mack Granite model, the trucks will be equipped with heavier-duty rear axles, all-wheel drive and increased suspension ride height to meet US Army requirements.
