The US Army has awarded multiple contracts to BAE Systems for the development of technologies for the Advanced Teaming Demonstration (A-Team) programme.
It is the only company that received contracts for three of the four focus areas of the programme.
It is designed to boost the manned and unmanned teaming (MUM-T) capabilities, which are said to be major components of the Future Vertical Lift (FVL) programme of the US Army.
The US Army developed the programme to create an automated system to reduce the pilot’s cognitive burden and to provide the command swarms of unmanned aircraft.
BAE Systems FAST Labs Autonomy, Control, and Estimation group product line director Chris Eisenbies said: “Our mature autonomy technology, which is the basis of our offering for the A-Team programme, will greatly increase the warfighter’s ability to have a complete view of the battlespace and streamline decision making.
“Future conflicts will include manned and unmanned teaming and increased automation in highly contested environments, helping to enable mission success.”
