Advanced communications solutions supplier PacStar has secured a contract to support the US Army’s integrated tactical network (ITN) programme.
The contract was awarded by the US Army Program Executive Office Command, Control, Communications-Tactical (PEO C3T).
Under the contract, PacStar will deliver its PacStar 400-Series platform for Scalable Class of Unified Terminals (SCOUT) in support of the ITN programme.
The PacStar platform will enable troops to communicate from remote and moving environments.
PacStar CEO Peggy J Miller said: “As the US Army and other Department of Defense (DoD) organisations continue to pursue expeditionary style warfare and engage more agile, smaller units, they must support on-the-move warfighters who often enter remote and mobile environments with limited communications equipment and uncertain infrastructure.
“PacStar offers a proven, and reliable tactical communications platform that demonstrated superior size, weight and power (SWaP) capabilities during ITN tests, accelerating DoD modernisation efforts.”

By GlobalDataThe ITN is a concept that uses the army’s current tactical network environment with commercial off-the-shelf components and transport capabilities to enable communications in disconnected, intermittent, and limited (DIL) bandwidth environments.
The SCOUT equips smaller units with expeditionary satellite capabilities to enable low bandwidth communications.
As part of the ITN Capability Set 21 rollout, four Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCTs) will be equipped with the PacStar 400-Series solutions.
This will help in improving the agility of the units, as well as simplifying training and deployment procedures.
PacStar or Pacific Star Communications focuses on providing advanced communications solutions for military, intelligence and commercial applications.
In July, the company contracted to support the US Army’s Expeditionary Signal Battalion-Enhanced (ESB-E) programme.
