Global: Worldwide Covid-19 cases have now passed 29 million, with deaths exceeding 924,000 according to Johns Hopkins University.
The World Health Organization reported a record single-day increase in global coronavirus cases on Sunday, as the tally surged by a further 307,930 infections in just 24 hours.
US: The US added 40,016 cases, a 0.6% rise in line with the average daily increase of the previous seven days. Total cases are now 6,519,979.
Mexico: Mexico’s health ministry has reported 4,408 new coronavirus cases and 217 additional deaths, bringing the total number of infections to 668,381 and the death toll to 70,821 deaths.
Greece: Greek health authorities have reported 207 new coronavirus cases, including 29 infections from abroad, with three more fatalities, as the country prepares to reopen its schools on Monday.

By GlobalDataFrance: France reported 7,183 new coronavirus cases on Sunday after more than 10,000 a day earlier, which was the most since a national lockdown ended in May.
UK: The UK reported 3,300 new cases on Sunday, the third straight day over 3,000. Rising cases prompted the UK on Thursday to limit to six the number of people who can gather indoors or outdoors, starting Monday.
Italy: Italy reported 1,458 new cases on Sunday, compared with 1,501 the previous day, with 72,143 daily tests. There were seven additional deaths, higher than the 6 deaths reported on Saturday.
Portugal: Portugal reported 673 cases, bringing the total to 63,983, the government said. The country has had more than 600 daily new confirmed coronavirus cases in three of the last five days, remaining at a level last recorded in April.
Germany: Germany’s monitor for infectious diseases has reported that the country’s Covid-19 cases have gone up by 927 to 260,355. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) also reported on Monday that the death toll rose by one to 9,350.
Norway: Norway’s infection rate has risen to 24.8 per 100,000 inhabitants over the past two weeks, overtaking Sweden’s rate of 24.0, Aftenposten reported. That’s despite Norway introducing stricter restrictions than its neighbour.
Australia: The state of Victoria on Monday reported seven deaths from the new coronavirus in the last 24 hours and 35 new cases, its lowest daily rise in infections since late June.
Indonesia: The Doctors Without Borders (also known as MSF) has called on the Indonesian government to step up education regarding the spread of the coronavirus in the country, saying that the spread of rumours and fake news is creating “panic” in many communities.
China: China’s National Health Commission has reported ten new coronavirus cases, bringing the country’s confirmed cases to 85,194. China also reported 39 new asymptomatic cases, which the government does not include in its total count.
South Korea: South Korea’s coronavirus monitoring agency reported on Monday at least 109 Covid-19 cases – the 12th straight day that infections stayed below 200. Yonhap quoted the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency as saying that of the new cases reported, 98 were of domestic origin, with the overall total hitting 22,285.
Iran: Iran recorded 128 fatalities and 2,089 new cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 23,157 in 402,029 known infections, latest Health Ministry figures showed.
Lockdown updates
Israel: Israel’s government will impose a new three-week nationwide lockdown that will start on Friday, after the rate of infection during the past two weeks became the highest recorded since the outbreak began.
New Zealand: New Zealand will remain at its current Covid-19 alert level for at least another week. The country is currently under low-level restrictions due to continued community transmission of the coronavirus in Auckland. Physical distancing is required, and masks are legally mandated on public transport.
Saudi Arabia: Saudi Arabia will partially lift its suspension of international flights as of 15 September to allow “exceptional categories” of citizens and residents to travel.
Philippines: Doctors in the Philippines have expressed opposition to the government’s plan to easing physical distancing regulations in the country, saying it is too early to relax the rules. The country has over 261,000 cases and at least 4,371 deaths due to the pandemic.

South Africa: Finance minister Tito Mboweni warned on Sunday the economy could shrink by more than the 7% forecast for 2020, stressing that public finances are “overstretched”.
