The new £300m seven-year Ministry of Defence contract has officially commenced today to digitally transform Veterans UK services.
The contract will cover Veterans UK and other organisations, including Ministry of Defence (MoD) Defence Business Services (DBS).
Military personnel pay and administration, veterans’ pensions and related services will be digitised under the contract.
Shared Services Connected Limited (SSCL) is serving as the supplier to deliver the required range of digitally enabled services.
SSCL was established as a joint venture between UK Cabinet Office and Sopra Steria.
The contract will provide an enhanced Veterans Portal and modern channels of access that include new digital and interactive platforms such as online claiming.

Veterans UK head Andy Dowds said: “We are all eagerly awaiting the Transformation that this new contract with SSCL will bring to Veterans UK.
“We have a brilliant opportunity to truly move our Veterans services into the digital age, providing easy access for customers and staff alike.
“We are starting from a low technological base and will move quickly through to a fully digital service. There is much hard work to do but I know that our people and SSCL staff are ready to rise to the challenge.”
During the contract performance period, all Veterans UK’s services and payments will continue as usual.
