Oshkosh Defense Canada has submitted a response to the Canadian Department of National Defence’s (DND) request for proposal (RFP) for the medium-support vehicle system (MSVS) standard military pattern (SMP) project.
The MSVS SMP solution builds on Oshkosh’s global in-theatre experience and real-world operational kilometres accumulated on its heavy expanded mobility tactical truck (HEMTT) platform, and is designed to bring the latest ground vehicle technologies to the Canadian Armed Forces.
Oshkosh executive vice-president and Oshkosh Defense president John Urias said the company’s MSVS SMP offering provides superior vehicle performance, sustainment across six continents and the best overall value for Canada.
”The Oshkosh MSVS SMP family of vehicles is the next generation of the world’s most trusted, battle-proven military platform in the field today,” Urias said.
Both MSVS SMP vehicles and trailers are designed to serve a full range of logistics missions from disaster recovery at home to major conflicts abroad.

By GlobalDataThe vehicles will be equipped with a high-performance drive train, advanced suspension and braking systems and an advanced armour protection system, which enable the MSVS SMPs to achieve a 70% off-road mission profile and a 98% mission reliability rate, helping ground forces to operate more safely in an array of threat levels, climates and terrains.
Oshkosh’s MSVS SMP team includes DEW Engineering and Development, General Dynamics Land Systems-Canada, and Link Suspensions of Canada-Raydan Division.
The MSVS SMP RFP, which sought supply of a new fleet of up to 1,500 medium-sized trucks and associated logistics solutions, also includes five years of in-service support (ISS).
Leveraging decades of performance based contracting and major repair / overhaul programs experience, the Oshkosh team’s ISS offering aims to minimise MSVS SMP life cycle costs while maximising reliability and readiness rates.
