US-based Dean Marine and Excavating has won a $4.7m contract from the US Army Corps of Engineers Buffalo District to perform repairs on the west arrowhead breakwater at the Port of Oswego, Oswego, New York.
Dean Marine and Excavating is expected to commence work this week. Work will include a 600ft repair along the lake side of the breakwater.
US Senator Charles E Schumer said: “This funding I helped secure will ensure Oswego Harbor remains open for both commercial and recreational business.”
The Corps of Engineers repaired 475ft of the 2,700ft Oswego Harbor west arrowhead breakwater last year and the contract will allow repair work to continue this year.
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said: “The Port of Oswego is a vital navigation channel that connects commercial ships and recreational boats from the Great Lakes to Central New York, helping to drive local tourism and contributing to the economy.
“The completion of the arrowhead breakwater repairs will help ensure that ships can continue to safely navigate through Oswego Harbor, and I’m glad that this project is moving forward.”
