Engility has been awarded a contract to support the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) in detecting and combating weapons of mass destruction (WMD).
The agreement, worth $38m, will see the company provide systems integration and engineering services for the agency’s cloud-based constellation combating WMD situational awareness programme.
Engility president and chief executive officer Tony Smeraglinolo said: "The constellation programme will increase our capability for detecting, understanding and forecasting WMD threats, which is a vital component in protecting our nation."
Constellation is a US Government interagency effort, which aims to develop a holistic and global capability for continuous assessment of WMD threats and also identify opportunities to proactively counter such threats.
The programme is expected to provide a common environment for data sharing, analysis and threat evaluation. In addition, it will improve collaboration among interagency and international partners.
Work under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract is scheduled to be performed over the next five years.
