The US Army has contracted ManTech International Corporation to support its distributed common ground system-army (DCGS-A) programme.

ManTech will provide software engineering support under the contract, which is part of the army’s record modernisation effort.

The $34m contract will also cover certification and accreditation information assurance, as well as other intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) technical assistance.

The contract includes a 12-month base period of performance, and one 12-month option period.

It is the primary system for posting, processing, and disseminating ISR information about threats, weather, and terrain to commanders.

DCGS-A commanders will be able to task battle-space sensors, and receive intelligence from multiple sources.

In April, the US Army revealed plans to deploy a lighter and more user-friendly DCGS-A, which will make the system easier for soldiers to use.

ManTech currently provides support to approximately 50 federal agencies through 1,000 current contracts, which cover cyber security, information technology (IT), intelligence solutions and support, and systems engineering.
