Approximately 200 Canadian Army soldiers from 5 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (5 CMBG) will be deployed to Ukraine for Operation Unifier.
The troop will relieve their counterparts from 2 CMBG, who were deployed in August and have completed military training activities requested by the Ukrainian Government.
Canadian Minister of National Defence Harjit S. Sajjan said: "With the return of the troops based in Petawawa, I am pleased to see additional soldiers deploying from Valcartier to offer continued support to the Ukrainian Armed Forces under Operation Unifier.
"This important training mission demonstrates that Canada, together with our other allies, stands in support of our Ukrainian friends."
Over the next few months, the Canadian soldiers will provide military training and capacity building to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
The soldiers will teach basic skills such as shooting, moving and communicating on the battlefield, and treating wounded soldiers.
