South Africa-based Denel has upgraded its Casspir mine-protected vehicles in an effort to meet firepower requirements in the battlefield.
Clients will now be able to choose the type and range of firepower to be fitted on the Casspir 2000 vehicle.
The new variants can serve as platforms for 81mm mortar systems, anti-tank and anti-aircraft weapons.
Rheinmetall Denel Munitions’ Plofadder mine-clearing system can also be fitted onto the Casspir hull.
Powered by Atlantis OM352A turbo-charged diesel engine, the Casspir is primarily designed as mine-resistant troop carrier. It can also be configured to serve as a field ambulance, as well a command-and-control, recovery, or light transport vehicle.
The vehicle offers a cruising speed of 100kmph on roads and up to 40kmph on most off-road conditions. It can withstand a 14kg explosive blast under each wheel.
