The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has revealed that the British Army has trained 2,000 members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF).
The development marks a major milestone as it completes the nation’s original target for the training programme.
The MoD has also revealed plans to expand the original target by training another 300 UAF personnel, extending the programme by another year.
The soldiers are being trained to identify mines and improvised explosive device (IED) logistics, urban defensive operations, and operational planning.
UK Defence Secretary Michael Fallon said: "This underlines the UK’s commitment to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine and our other Eastern European partners.
"It sends another clear message that we stand firm with Ukraine in the face of aggression."
