US-based Mercury Systems has secured a contract to support a defence radar system for an undisclosed nation.
The $28m contract requires the company to provide digital signal processing subsystems for a ground-based, ballistic missile defence radar processing application.
Mercury Global Sales vice-president Brian Hoerl said: "Mercury was selected by our customer for this programme since we were able to quickly develop an extremely powerful processing system where maximum performance was critical.
"Additionally, our rapid prototype solution uses commercially-developed open architecture ATCA building blocks designed and manufactured in the US, an important criterion in defence electronics where the provenance and integrity of the supply chain are paramount."
Mercury’s signal processing technology is expected to provide lower ownership costs for the customer’s critical airborne programme.
In January, the company was contracted to support an airborne sensor processing application for fighter aircraft.
