The US Army, Nato allies and European partner nations have launched a situational training exercise (STX) ahead of US Army Europe’s (USAREUR) annual combat training centre certification exercise, code-named Saber Junction 16.
Scheduled to be held at USAREUR’s Joint Multinational Readiness Center (JMRC), the exercise will witness participation from nearly 5,000 personnel from US, ten Nato allies and six European partner nations.
The 25-day multinational exercise is being conducted to evaluate the 173rd Airborne Brigade’s ability to conduct unified land operations.
The allied and partner nations forces participating in the exercise include Albania, Armenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Sweden, and the UK.
173rd Airborne Brigade 54th Brigade Engineer Battalion Charlie Company executive officer 1st lieutenant Matthew Garnier said: "Effective communications are the root of success on the battlefield.
"Our signal company is excited and ready to prove our capability to provide excellent communication support to this combined military exercise."
