Robonic, in collaboration with Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, has delivered two of its third-generation Kontio MC2555LLR pneumatic launchers to the US Army Targets Management Office, a part of Program Executive Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation (PEO STRI).

Following successful completion of testing last month, the two Kontio launchers have now become operational.

Robonic managing director Juha Moisio said: "Delivery of our Kontio launcher to the US Army is a major milestone for us as we work to develop advanced solutions to meet the demands of the target drone market.

"We are proud to have delivered on our commitment and look forward to opportunities for future collaboration with this key customer. This achievement also represents a successful partnership, as we worked alongside Kratos throughout the duration of the programme."

The high-pressure pneumatic launcher has been designed to support tactical unmanned air systems and target drones.

Safran Electronics & Defense, the parent company of Robonic, stated that the solution will be used to launch the CEi's Firejet high-performance aerial targets.

The Kontio launcher has a large mass and speed envelope, which makes it highly suitable for several types of targets or tactical unmanned aerial vehicle.

It is capable of launching air vehicles of up to 140kg mass with a 70m/s exit velocity or alternatively 500kg masses at 37 m/s.
