The Dutch Defence Materiel Organisation (DMO) has placed an order for the modernisation of 30 Fennek reconnaissance vehicles to Joint Fire Support Team (JFST) status, on behalf of German Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment (BAAINBw).
The order will see 30 Fennek scout cars being modified and retrofitted to the latest configuration, Fennek JFST 1A3+ variant, for the German Army.

With a total value of approximately €88m, the contract will involve the replacement of obsolete component assemblies, as well as corresponding software adjustments.
Work under the order will take place between 2018 and 2022, following which the Fennek JFST 1A3+ variants will be delivered to the German Armed Forces.
Equipped with high-performance observation equipment, the Fennek JFST will be used by the army to conduct missions, such as battlefield monitoring, target acquisition and directing fire.
The vehicles will also be able to connect with radio communication systems used by the German air force and marines.
In the bilateral Fennek programme, DMO is acting as the lead organisation responsible for contracting on behalf of Germany.
In December 2001, the Netherlands Ministry of Defence and the ARGE Fennek consortium signed a €500m contract for the combined Dutch and German procurement of 612 Fennek light wheeled armoured vehicles.
